This is a bright projector with a sharp picture, good colour and is easy to operate. I live off grid on solar and wind power and needed a low wattage projector – in eco mode it uses less than 60 watts, which is less than our 19″ lcd telly – but with a huge bright screen – we have it at about 70″ – set back 2m from the screen. To get the best from it use a glass bead screen – we use the Crosby & Bown 72″ manual screen. This in a room lit with a 60w equivalent side light. It is possible to make the picture even bigger than the 80″ stated though v low lighting would be needed. It is noisy in bright mode but quiet enough in eco mode, also best mounted on a tripod so there is no soundboard effect.
More expensive than similar spec mercury bulb projectors, but uses much less power and the bulb lasts for a lifetime, so cheaper by far in the long run, highly recommended.

My first projector purchase. Been hanging out waiting for something robust (LED), light, and bright enough which suited my pocket and this was it. Works with everything I plug into it. Great resolution, very sharp picture.

The biggest question for me was going to be brightness. Now it won’t compete on this score against projectors with standard bulbs, but then again you do get portability and robustness in return. For my needs it’s fine. I watch movies in the lounge with the curtains closed, though even if some light gets in it’s not an issue. Even during the day (in England, in the winter) the picture is still fine depending where you point it. Just direct it at a corner of the room where the light doesn’t fall directly and you’re good to go.

Very portable. I can toss it into my bag and drag it round town. Since it’s so light I’ve opted to simply mount it on a standard camera tripod.

The two issues I do have are lack of zoom, and no horizontal keystone correction (i.e. left/right offset). This means to get a square picture you have to plant it directly in front of the screen (I just use a wall). It does support vertical keystone correction so it can be below or above the screen (has an auto mode where it figures this out itself). The lack of zoom is also a small annoyance as it sometimes gets in the way of where you want to sit. These issues are mainly remedied by use of a tripod which I simple setup behind the couch and above peoples heads.

Running in eco mode is somewhat quieter then standard mode, losing only a little of the brightness. Not enough for the others to really notice. It’s not totally quiet so if noise really annoys you (as it does me) then you may need to look for a brighter one and mount it in the ceiling further away. I can tolerate it, possibly wouldn’t get anything which makes less noise. On par with a laptop running hot.

I’d take 1/2 a point off for the zoom and keystone

I would buy this one again if I had to. Small, portable, bright enough, great resolution, easy to use (it just works). So far has worked flawlessly. For me fits my needs perfectly.
